Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours, Monday to Friday (will consider 4 days a week)

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Pathologist to join our growing team within our state-of-the-art Laboratory at Dick White Referrals (DWR) Referral Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a wider clinical team of Clinical and Anatomic Pathologists as we move forward under Antech Diagnostics, part of Mars Pet Care, together making a better world for pets.

As our laboratory is located within the busy hospital at DWR, lots of our work is from referred patients in house. We also receive samples through other referral hospitals across the UK, along with first opinion samples which provides us with a varied and interesting workload.

We enjoy interacting with our clinical associates in the hospital, allowing for tailored individualised reports and excellent feedback and discussion of cases.

Primary duties include:

  • Examination and reporting of cytology samples – fine needle aspirates, effusions, CSF, synovial fluid.
  • Evaluation and interpretation of clinical pathology results including haematology, biochemistry, endocrinology and microbiology
  • Evaluation and reporting of flow cytometry
  • Contributing to the training of our clinical pathology resident as well as visiting residents
  • Contributing to the training of lab technicians in blood film examination
  • Taking part in seminars and journal clubs

This is a full-time post; however a 4-day week would also be considered by mutual agreement. On-site working is preferred, however remote working is also possible, in which case experience with digital images would be preferred.

Requirements

  • Board certified by the European College of Veterinary Pathologists, America College of Veterinary Pathologists or Royal College of Pathologists.
  • You will be organised, hardworking and self-motivated with an enthusiasm for science
  • Candidates must be able to work within a multidisciplinary team but also autonomously within the laboratory environment.

  • Staff discount schemes
  • Life Assurance
  • Enhanced sickness pay
  • Enhanced equal family leave
  • E-car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Employer contribution pension scheme
