Job description

Location: UK Remote (office or hybrid options available)
Annual Salary: Starting salary £23,000 pro rata
Contract: Permanent after 6-month probationary period
Line Manager: Sadie Scheuer
Recruiter: Hope Parkin
Hours: Part-time (20 hours per week) or full time (37.5 hours per week)
Closing date for applications: 20/10/2023

We launched our secondary Relationships and Sex Education product (Beyond RSE) in April 2021, and it has gone from strength to strength. Using the curriculum framework as a foundation for lesson development, we seek to produce resource packs for specialists and non-specialists alike.

You’ll be contributing to both the writing and editing of RSE resources. You’ll be a go-to specialist for the subject, using your up-to-date knowledge of secondary education and supporting documentation to ensure that our resources are suitable for the target audience, and that the materials provide the correct levels of challenge, support and sensitivity. Whichever of these tasks you fulfil on any one day will be determined by the project leader according to workflow and customer need.

We are looking for someone who has worked with young people in secondary schools in roles such as (though not exclusive to) teaching, pastoral or social work, and who has taught topics around RSE, PSHE, safeguarding, relationships and sexual health. You will have a good idea of classroom dynamics and the suitability of material for teenagers, as well as excellent attention to detail. You’ll be a fantastic communicator, working collaboratively in an Agile development team.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about giving back to the education community and keen to share their RSE expertise with others in their team. This position can take place at Sheffield HQ or it can be a work-from-home, flexible position.

If you are applying for the full-time role 37.5 hours per week, the core working hours are 10:00 am-2:00 pm Monday-Friday.

If you are applying for the part-time role 20 hours per week, the core working hours are 10:00 am-2:00 pm on a minimum of two days per week Monday-Friday.

Your remaining hours can be agreed between you and your line manager to fit around your current commitments and business needs.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

Because we work in a versatile way you will be utilised as a content writer, producing the raw teaching materials from scratch, as well as an editor, paying detailed attention to the work of other writers both before and after the creative team have produced the finished designs. Whichever of these tasks you fulfil on any one day will be determined by your team leader according to workflow and customer need.
