Description of Work Unit
This work unit exists to disburse university funds for goods and services received and to provide customer service to vendors and university personnel and ensue proper tax reporting protocols are followed.

Position Summary
This is a virtual position that requires Colorado residency and the ability to travel to CSU, Fort Collins 1-3 time per year as required by the department.

The Accounting Technician II ensures prompt, efficient payment of expenses with accuracy and justification within the policies and procedures set forth through state and university rules and regulations.

Process payable documents for Colorado State University and serve as a resource to university employees and vendors by auditing and approving purchase order invoices for payment following state fiscal rules and university financial procedures; entering documents into Kuali financial system for disbursement; provide information for university departments and vendors; provide support to university personnel; and serving as liaison between the university and its vendors.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of technical accounting experience.

Substitutions
Two years of bookkeeping or technical accounting experience other than that listed may substitute for the required experience. Two years of college, university or noncorrespondence business school which included eighteen (18) semester credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping can substitute for the required experience.

The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:
  • Directly related state service experience
  • Strong skills with MS Office Suite with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Teams
  • Experience working in a position where strict confidentiality is required
  • Skilled in customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience using financial, travel, and other computing systems such as Kuali Financial Systems.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization both independently and as a team member
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated success coordinating multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Experience working with third party vendors to resolve payment discrepancies

  • Review all invoices and confirm accuracy of payment information entered. Ensure the payments follow university, state, and federal fiscal rules and that all necessary supporting information is provided and attached to the payment documents.
