Job description

Location: Work from home (must be based in the UK) or at Sheffield HQ

Annual Salary: £27,000 - £30,000

Contract: Permanent

You’ll be leading the Twinkl Digest team of writers who produce journalistic content related to news and current issues in the education sector.

From breaking news journalism on teacher strikes to exploring the latest research around classroom practice, Digest articles are current, relevant, well-researched and full of vital information.

The Digest team is already an important voice within Twinkl and the wider education world. We are looking for the right person to further develop the work of Digest by becoming Editor and helping to establish Digest as a leading voice in education thought leadership.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • editing, proofreading and sensitivity-checking content
  • overseeing and guiding the direction of content
  • developing the capacity and skills of the whole team
  • leading training and coaching individuals
  • guiding the direction and growth of the Digest product
  • line managing the Digest team leader

In this role, you will learn:

  • how to further develop a quality product by developing individuals and the whole team
  • how to draw on the expertise of others within and outside Twinkl, in order to grow the reach and quality of the product
  • to seize opportunities, pivoting rapidly to meet the needs of our customers

  • Rebecca Stott - Head of the Schools Thought Leadership Team
  • The Twinkl Digest writers

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will have recent experience in the journalism or content writing sector, with proven leadership experience. You’ll need to have an understanding of the education sector and the audience we produce content for.

To succeed in the role, you will have:

  • a good understanding of the writing, editing and publishing process within Digest
  • an awareness of Digest’s mission
  • a supportive, yet outcome-driven way of working with others
  • an entrepreneurial mindset, ready to take action and spot new opportunities
  • good organisational skills, being able to work with a variety of people across the business
  • the ability to work in a small, fast-paced team
  • excellent editorial skills and an eye for content
  • a vision for how Digest could develop

You will need a reliable computer or laptop with a fast broadband speed (if remote) - you will be responsible for maintenance/repairs etc.
