Content Writer and Editor – International RRR – Spanish Speaking

Location: Remote or Sheffield HQ

Annual Salary: £23,000

Contract: One year fixed-term

Line Manager: TBC

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm GMT)

You’ll be joining a team of passionate teachers working to create and edit Twinkl’s online content for teachers across the world. The majority of your time will be spent working with other Content Writer/Editors and Designers; engaging with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers. This post will be based in a Fast Response team (RRR), which aims to fill content gaps and upload lovely new resources on site as quickly as possible. Your weekly activities could include:

  • Creating new resources to support teaching and learning across curricula from selected countries around the world;
  • Sensitively responding to and giving editorial feedback around grammar and punctuation, curriculum relevance and factual accuracy, as well as working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard;
  • Using your own knowledge as an educator to support the team with their resource content;
  • Producing resources which respond to customer needs and current teaching methodologies;
  • Meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas;
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills with the writers, editors, designers and illustrators that you collaborate with;
  • Curating existing content on site to ensure that it is up to date and meets customers' needs;
  • Ideating daily content to make on your team and also sending ideas for new content to other product teams across Twinkl;
  • Using data to make decisions about which content needs to be made based on content gaps;
  • Administrative tasks associated with this role.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about giving back to the education community and keen to share their expertise with others in their team. This position can take place at Sheffield HQ or it can be a work-from-home position. Due to the nature of the team, who work together to upload new resources quickly, the role requires working 7.5 hours daily between 8am-4.30pm (GMT) Monday-Friday. Flexibility around other commitments, such as childcare, can be arranged.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • have completed qualified teacher status: PGCE, B.Ed or equivalent;
  • be proficient in spoken and written Spanish Language;
  • have 2 years of full classroom teaching experience in a primary classroom after formal teaching qualification is complete;
  • be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;
  • be prepared to build knowledge of the common curricula from at least one of the following countries: Canada, Ireland, Korea, India, Japan, Chile, South Africa;
  • be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and G Suite;
  • understand the teaching community, knowing their unique pressures and current educational trends;
  • have a drive for continuous professional development.

In this role, you will learn:

• how to ideate and create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for children and teachers right through to publication;

• how to check content and provide feedback for other writers;

• how to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines;

• how to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK and throughout the world through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests;

• how to apply your teaching experience to create new products, from ideation stage to publication.

• Your own direct Line Manager (RRR Team Leader)

• Our team of qualified teachers who currently write, edit and produce content for the team

• Other teams within the Fast Response Group at Twinkl

• Our amazing in-house design and illustration teams

Access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. (We recommend you use speedtest.net to check);

You will be responsible for supplying and maintaining your own IT equipment if working remotely.
