Zonda is looking for seasoned Accounts Payable Manager to lead our AP function with precision, insight, and forward-thinking strategy. This high-level role goes beyond transactional oversight, requiring deep understanding of GL coding, the chart of accounts, and the impact of accurate AP entries on financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. This role is ideal for a candidate ready to transform and modernize AP operations while serving as a key partner in driving organizational efficiency and financial clarity. Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing AP team through process transformation and continuous improvement.
- Coach and guide the AP team on proper coding, internal controls, and process adherence, providing corrective feedback and training where needed.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence within the AP function.
- Serve as the key liaison between AP and other internal departments, building strong cross-functional relationships.
Financial Accuracy & Strategy
- Ensure accurate GL coding of AP transactions by collaborating with accountants and reviewing entries for alignment with the chart of accounts and financial reporting.
- Ensure the AP team meets close deadlines by adhering to established timelines, and work closely with the GL team to reconcile accounts and support a smooth, timely month-end close.
- Uphold strong internal controls within the procure-to-pay process, ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
- Assist in maintaining and improving standardized AP procedures that support efficiency, accuracy, and financial integrity.
- Understand the broader financial implications of AP data on monthly close, financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Support the Director of Accounting with key financial initiatives, including budget planning and variance analysis.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Lead initiatives to streamline AP processes, increase automation, and improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance AP performance and reporting capabilities.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation.
Project Management
- Manage and execute special projects including system upgrades, vendor payment optimization, and workflow redesign.
- Drive change management initiatives and process standardization across multiple entities or business units, if applicable.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Own day-to-day AP treasury responsibilities, including payment cycles, cash disbursements, and optimizing working capital.
- Collaborate with finance leadership on cash forecasting and liquidity planning.
What type of skills are required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a mid to large-size organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and the interconnection between AP and the full financial picture.
- Experience managing or supporting treasury operations and cash flow optimization strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, implement new tools, and drive process efficiencies.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel; experience with AP automation tools a plus.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a strategic mindset and hands-on leadership approach.
