Innovations for the digital society of tomorrow are the focus of research and development work at the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, HHI. The Fraunhofer HHI is a world leader in research into mobile and optical communication networks and systems as well as the coding of video signals and data processing. We are looking for student assistants for the research group "Immersive Media & Communication" in the department "Vision & Imaging Technologies (VIT)". In our national and European research projects, we develop new methods of interactive 3D visualisation and demonstrate our technologies in virtual reality and augmented reality applications for digital and immersive media as well as for medical technology and industrial applications. For the development and implementation of new algorithms in the field of 3D model generation, scene design and visual effects and in the development of AR/VR applications, we are looking for committed, independently working students to support our team. Become a part of our team and join us on our journey of research and innovation!

 

What you will do

  • Development and implementation of new algorithms in the areas of asset and model generation, point cloud rendering, visual effects (GPU shader, shadergraph, VFX) and 3D scene design

  • Development of AR/VR applications

 

What you bring to the table

  • Full-time student at a German university preferably in the subject areas of computer vision, computer graphics, computer science, media informatics or creative technologies 

  • Good programming skills in C++, C# for support in algorithm development (can be proven by previous projects)

  • Very good knowledge of the 3D development engine Unity3D (possibly also in the Unreal Engine) for the development of AR/VR applications as a technical requirement (can be proven by previous projects)

  • Ability to work in a team and structured, independent work

  • Good command of English

  • Presence in Berlin, as on-site work is expected

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.

 

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
