The marketing and communications specialist develops and executes marketing and communications tactics to support the strategic goals, objectives and reputation of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). This position plays a key role in promoting CTSI programs, resources and services by executing effective communication strategies, developing engaging content and disseminating content across multiple platforms, while fostering engagement with both internal and external audiences.
The marketing and communications specialist should have excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, along with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By ensuring coordination, clear communication and efficient execution of tasks, the marketing and communications specialist helps enhances the CTSI’s overall impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
60% Marketing Communications
Participate in planning and support tactical execution of communications and marketing strategies to promote CTSI programs, events and services.
Executes communication campaigns by creating content and coordinating communication channels, including newsletters, social media and blogs, to effectively communicate the CTSI’s vision and impact.
Works with program areas and other department teams/staff to identify marketing and communication needs specific to the CTSI.
Assist in writing and designing a variety of marketing communications materials to include brochures, flyers, newsletters and web content that enhance the CTSI brand and reputation.
20% Digital Support
Develop, edit and manage CTSI website content ensuring accessibility compliance and organized, easy-to-navigate content.
Support the execution of digital marketing programs, including paid media, SEO and CRM campaigns, by carrying out assigned tasks and recording performance metrics.
Create content and manage day-to-day activities across CTSI’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter) focusing on content deployment and engagement tracking. Participate in Community of Practice and stay informed about emerging platforms and tactics.
20% Coordination of Events/Special Projects
Develop communications and collateral for special events and outreach activities, including invitations, signage, programs, presentations and day-of materials, ensuring consistency with CTSI branding and messaging.
Design visually compelling materials for both print and digital formats using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
Support the preparation and coordination of special projects by creating content, organizing materials and tracking deliverables to meet deadlines.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred
Software proficiency; experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), basic video editing programs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge and experience with marketing analytics and analytic tools
Experience using Drupal 10 or other CMS
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
