Job description

WHO WE ARE

Vox Media’s Revenue organization handles advertising and marketing partnerships with brands and agencies, as well as lines of business in consumer revenue and commerce across the organization.

Vox Media is the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what’s now, what’s next, and what’s possible.

As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.

We’re looking for an experienced and results-oriented Affiliate Business Development Lead to join our ecommerce team on a fixed-term basis to cover a parental leave. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for aggressively driving flat fee revenue through strategic brand partnerships.

You’ll play a crucial role in negotiating rates, closing deals, and maximizing monetization of editorial content, especially during high-performing seasonal periods. This position requires strong sales instincts, a deep understanding of affiliate performance levers, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with editorial teams and the commerce team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Own and drive flat fee revenue across key verticals including, but not limited to tech, kids/babies/toys, food & drink, gaming, pets, subscriptions/delivery services, travel/luggage, apps/software and sports/outdoor gear.
  • Proactively pitch and secure flat fee partnerships through both outbound and inbound efforts.
  • Use affiliate performance data (EPC, CTR, AOV, etc.) to identify top monetization opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with commerce editors for pre-sale approval and post-sale execution.
  • Code affiliate links and optimize content to support monetization goals.
  • Develop and deliver compelling pitch decks, one-sheets, and campaign recaps.
  • Maintain strong relationships with affiliate networks, agencies, and brand-side contacts.
  • Track and report weekly on pipeline health, closed deals, and revenue performance.

Oversee execution and fulfillment of flat fee campaigns, ensuring accuracy in documentation and post-campaign learnings.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 5+ years of affiliate experience with a strong focus on business development and flat fee deal-making.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing flat fee partnerships.
  • Expert knowledge of the affiliate ecosystem, especially platforms like Impact, Cj, Rakuten, Skimlinks, and affiliate KPIs.
  • Strategic yet scrappy mindset — comfortable owning the full deal lifecycle, from prospecting to reporting.
  • Strong collaboration skills, especially with editorial, analytics, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to execute swiftly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a publisher-side commerce or content + commerce setting is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in affiliate tools and analytics platforms such as Looker, Google Analytics, CMS systems, and Salesforce.
  • Existing brand and agency relationships in ecommerce

If you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team. We’ve hired chefs who became editors, DJs who became UX designers, and sommeliers who became writers.
