The Public Sector Sales Director role will work on all accounts in the region and be focused on both new business and securing renewals, work on RFP’s, prepare demos and assist in developing relationships with Federal, State, Local and Education customers. With an understanding of the telecom landscape, the Sales Director will assist in penetrating new customers as well as deepening working relationships across technical and procurement organizations at existing customers.
Expectations for Success
Responsible for sales activities with both new prospects and existing Ookla clients
Act as client’s primary point for contract renewals and negotiations
Demonstrate product offerings and value proposition to customers via web or in-person meetings
Actively develop and grow relationships across your customer’s business and technical organizations
Educate and support our clients to ensure optimum utilization of our product suite
Provide sales support to a customer base that consists mostly of seasoned technical, engineers, marketing, legal and procurement staff
Engage with Director and Senior executives in support of their business needs
Partner internally with the technical account management team and sales directors to periodically review account health and identify opportunities for future growth within your accounts
Champion and advocate for customer requirements within Ookla by being the customer’s voice internally
Continually develop your own knowledge and application of new technologies to support and enable growth of our customers

Ability to travel domestically to support client engagements
Experience in the Telecommunications market (fixed and/or mobile networks, access) and working with Federal and/or State/Local governments
At least 3 years’ experience in a Sales or Business Development role working with Federal and/or State/Local governments
Strong verbal and written communications skills, able to effectively communicate across all levels of internal and client organizations within diverse global markets
Strategic account planning and execution skills
Experience working in SFDC
Responsible, able to manage time effectively and work efficiently, both with and without direct supervision
Experience with negotiation of sales contracts with a consultative sales approach
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Experience with crowdsourcing, benchmarking or customer experience management is a plus

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Ookla provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Some roles may include a target bonus or sales commission plan based on level of role. The base pay for this position ranges from $75,000/year up to $140,000/year in base salary.
