Job Description:

The Senior Director, HR M&A Programs is a critical leader in the HR function, accountable for providing strategic direction, oversight and expertise in M&A Programs such as: mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other large commercial deals requiring employee integration.  This is a high-visibility, high-impact role leading all integration activities, including pre-deal due diligence, integration planning, and post-close execution, encompassing the end-to-end experience as new employees join the company.

Partnering closely with Corporate Development, Business, and HR leadership, you will design and execute integration strategies that prioritize employee engagement, talent retention, and organizational effectiveness - while mitigating people-related risks and delivering desired business outcomes.  Your leadership will ensure that every milestone—from planning to implementation—is managed collaboratively and efficiently across cross-functional teams. By successfully leading these integrations, you’ll play a critical role in driving Iron Mountain’s strategic growth agenda.

This is a remote based position in the USA.

What You’ll Do

Strategy and Leadership

  • Serve as the HR thought leader and subject matter expert in all HR M&A Programs, partnering directly with HR leaders to develop integration strategies that maximize value. 
  • Work with corporate development and business leadership to align HR’s strategies and priorities with transaction objectives, expertly negotiating trade-offs, prioritization and alternative solution requirements when needed. 
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive playbook to streamline processes, ensure consistency and scalability and embed continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership, management, and coaching to a direct report team of 5-7 HR professionals, as well as aligned/matrixed HR resources globally. 
  • Support senior leaders in target companies by facilitating their understanding of Iron Mountain and establishing critical connections to ensure successful integration.

Due Diligence, Planning, and Integration

  • Lead due diligence, to include assessments of: organizational design, talent capabilities, leadership alignment, compensation and benefits, and workforce dynamics; identify, quantify and communicate risks and mitigation strategies. 
  • Collaborate with Iron Mountain HR leadership, external advisors, and target organizations to address complex HR integration challenges.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive integration project and resourcing plans to enable efficient and successful integration; ensure alignment of HR plans to the business integration plans.
  • Partner with HR's Finance business partner and HR leadership to define and secure integration and ongoing operating financial requirements to support new employees.
  • Partner with HR change management to design and execute strategies that foster transparency, clarity, and trust with employees and ensure they remain engaged and aligned throughout the integration process.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Proven track record of strategically driving HR integration in complex, highly acquisitive, global organizations, preferably with 7-10 years HR integration experience - ideally at a technology company, private equity firm, or within the banking/financial services industry.  
  • Deep understanding of a broad range of HR domains in HR integration contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge, drive, negotiate and influence decisions with senior leaders, external advisors, and cross-functional teams to achieve strategic goals - balancing across business and people aspects. 
  • Exceptional resilience and adaptability to thrive in a demanding, high-visibility, ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management rigor, including planning, prioritization, and execution; ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including experience reporting and delivering insights to business and HR executives.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, becoming a credible advisor and influencing decisions that align with organizational goals.
