ROLE OVERVIEW:

This strategic leadership role oversees three production locations. The Director will be responsible for the full value chain of adhesive production, from safety, manufacturing and quality to commercial strategy, performance management, pricing and innovation.

The North American market size is $11B of which $4.9B is water-based adhesives. Key segments for the Adhesive business are: converters; gypsum & wallboard; meta l & foil and strapping; cloth and mailing & packaging.

Our strategy is to grow overall business unit revenue and profitability. This will be done by organic growth and a potential bolt-on acquisition as well as fundamentally changing the current go to market model to focus on new innovative products for new markets. 

Our adhesives are used in a variety of internal and external applications, with a strong focus on industrial packaging solutions such as tube and core, hexacomb and other paper and non-paper based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Set and execute the strategic direction for the adhesives business in North America.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence, safety, and commercial growth.
  • Act as a key member of the regional leadership team, contributing to broader organizational strategy.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations across two production facilities and indirectly one production facility, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency targets are met or exceeded.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best-in-class manufacturing practices.

Commercial Responsibility

  • Partner with sales and marketing to drive external growth opportunities and meet internal adhesive demand.
  • Monitor market trends and customer needs to adapt and align product offerings accordingly.
  • Research and penetrate new end use segments to drive margin and profitable growth.

Innovation & Product Development

  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams to ensure innovation aligns with customer and market demands.
  • Support development and scaling of new adhesive formulations.

Financial Management

  • Own the P&L for the adhesives division, ensuring profitability and sustainable cost structures.
  • Develop and manage budgets, capital investments, and performance metrics.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA/MSc) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial product environments, preferably in adhesives or related chemical sectors.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven experience managing multi-site operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business acumen, with a track record of growing revenue and improving operational performance.
  • Commercial mindset, be aware of the challenges and create and capture the opportunities
  • Business development with an eye on strategic M&A opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $166,500.00 - $290,000.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $170,000.00 to $250,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
