Your tasks
ISCC – International Sustainability and Carbon Certification is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability, traceability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Our activities and impact are expanding and our teams are growing exponentially since the last 2 years. This is why the IT & Technology department, specifically the Software Development team of experts are looking forward to welcome you as Data Engineer at the ISCC headquarters in Cologne.
The Data Engineer has the objective to work at the forefront of data infrastructure development by designing, constructing, installing, and maintaining the systems to allow for a seamless and reliable data flow.  Your main duties will be:
 
  • Collaborating with system architects and software engineers to understand data requirements.
  • Design data models to unify business data from multiple sources.
  • Provide the foundation for Business Intelligence Analysis, Machine Learning and AI training.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity through data validation, cleansing and error handling
  • Developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines for efficient data ingestion as well as extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Designing and continuously optimizing data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes to support the company's evolving data needs.
  • Implementing data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.
  • Monitoring data infrastructure for performance and reliability to address issues promptly.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven services and decision-making within the organization.
  • Documenting data pipelines, processes, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
Your profile
  • University degree in Information Science or similar topic; Master’s and/or Data Engineering certification is a plus
  • At least 3 years’ experience as full-time data engineer
  • ETL Processes & Big Data: Strong experience in building and maintaining ETL workflows and working with big data technologies in storage, mining, analytics, and visualization.
  • Data Management & Tools: Proficient in data mining (e.g., Presto), data analytics (e.g., Apache Spark), and data visualization (e.g., Tableau).
  • Database Management: Experience with various DBMS, including Document (MongoDB), Graph (Neo4J), and Relational (PostgreSQL), FileMaker is a plus.
  • Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in Go/Golang, Java, Python, and C#, with expertise in data queries (SQL, GraphQL, Cypher, SparQL).
  • Messaging & Streaming Brokers: Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Apache Kafka.
  • Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments, with knowledge of UML and BPMN for modeling processes.
  • Proficient in Linux/Ubuntu, Mac and Windows environments
  • Excellent English skills (at least C1), and good German skills (at least B2)
