About the role

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer within the Zepz Data Team, you'll be at the forefront of building the robust foundations that drive our mission to revolutionize global financial services. You'll wield the power to ignite change and empower progress, leading the charge in managing the critical platform and services that fuel insightful, automated decision-making for our users worldwide.

You intrinsically understand that a truly impactful data platform hinges on reliable, fresh, and trustworthy data. It's your mission to architect and ensure this non-negotiable standard for every user and downstream application, making a tangible difference in how millions manage their finances.

You'll take a senior role in designing and building a world-class data platform from first principles, working closely with data engineering teams to embed agility, automation, and governance into our operational processes. This cutting-edge platform will not only be leveraged internally across Zepz (WorldRemit and Sendwave) but will also enable our partners to enter new markets, directly supporting our organizational goal of making remittances easy and secure for a global customer base. Your expertise will be key to scaling our capabilities and fostering a data-driven culture that truly serves the financial needs of migrants

What you bring to the table: 

Solid experience in building/scaling platforms that support Data and ML operations with a keen interest in solving problems using code.
3+ years demonstrated experience, in data platform engineering
Expert Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps methodologies. You understand the build and deployment cycle of an application and how it fits into a global platform.
Great Terraform Skills. All of our infrastructure is defined using Terraform and deployed using Atlantis. You should have a good understanding of Terraform and be able to solve common issues.
Containerisation. You have a good understanding of Docker and Kubernetes and how you can leverage these tools to ensure there is zero downtime.
Holistic view on application delivery. You understand the use of many systems, APM, monitoring, logging, alerting, scaling to build a robust platform for applications to respond to the varying demands from both external sources (traffic) and internal sources (feature team delivery) in a safe and controlled manner.
Our Cloud Native platform is hosted in AWS. You’ll be comfortable working with a system that supports users from around the world, at scale. 
Have a working knowledge in one or several of the following SQL, Python, Spark, Databricks, Airflow, Kubernetes
You work well with Engineering, DevOps and Product members and are comfortable building effective relationships with stakeholders outside technology.

Bonus Points if you:

Have worked at a scaling startup previously.
Experience working with Data Engineers/Analysts to troubleshoot platform related issues.
Experience in both batch and real time data platforms
