The Team

This role is for individuals that understand the potential impact of our fundraising, consulting services, and strategic decisions on Black, First Nations, Indigenous, People of Color and other vulnerable populations.
The Role
The Philanthropic and Business Partnerships Senior Director, National and West Coast is a frontline member of the Business Partnerships & Investor Relations (BPIR) team, which oversees development, earned revenue, and community investments for the organization. Reporting to the BPIR Chief of Staff, the Senior Director is responsible for the strategy, management and growth of Health Lead's annual portfolio of donors and prospects from foundations, corporations, local, state, and federal government agencies, and individuals. This position will have a fifty percent West Coast focus and a fifty percent national partnerships scope in collaboration with the BPIR Vice President, the Executive Director of the West Coast Region, the Chief Strategy Office, the Chief Operations Officer, and the Chief Executive Officer.
what you’ll do:
Serve as a key member of Health Lead's BPIR and participate in all phases of fundraising from foundations; corporations; government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels; and individuals, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation.
Partner with the VP of BPIR and executive leadership to design, lead, and execute a revenue strategy that raises funding both within the west coast region and across national partnerships for the upcoming fiscal year.
Partner with the VP of BPIR, the executive director, and the C-Suite to create, design, manage, and launch a national partnerships strategy.
Work closely with initiative leads and program teams across Health Leads to develop outreach and cultivation for the west coast region, partnering closely with the regional executive director of California in particular.
Maintain current relationships with community and healthcare partners while developing a substantial number of new relationships to grow revenue by at least $1M annually in partnership with program staff.
Reinforce BPIR team goals through mentorship in learning how to prioritize, manage, and build donor relationships around unrestricted and restricted earned revenue and philanthropic partnerships; working with cross-functional team members and departments on donor engagement, cultivation strategies and approaches.
Lead strategy for donor acquisition, renewal and upgrade, incorporating individual donor solicitation, direct mail, online, email, social media, and indirect giving channels by partnering with the VP, BPIR to leverage team capacity and other internal resources
Oversee four-, five- , six-, and seven-figure gifts (prioritizing major gifts in particular) for the full fundraising cycle by cultivating long-term relationships with donors, representing Health Lead's mission, vision, and impact to constituencies throughout the west coast region and with national partnerships.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate strategies for newly qualified potential donors, including the assessment of a prospect's interests and knowledge of Health Lead's programs to recommend the most effective ways to optimize near-term and multi-year philanthropic partnerships.
Work to strengthen the donor pipeline by working with the VP of BPIR and executive leadership in creating donor engagement strategies for selected prospects, and ensuring the successful implementation of fundraising activities and initiatives across the BPIR team.
Work with the VP BPIR to ensure that creative content is appropriate for donor engagement.
Work with the VP of BPIR and fellow team members to establish performance goals, interim benchmarks, donor quantity and retention goals with the intention of increasing Y2Y, through the use of statistical reporting and analysis.
Manage donor database for the assigned portfolio, ensuring all reporting, contact information and engagement strategies are up-to-date in real-time.
Depending on the senior director’s area of greater expertise, this role will work in partnership with the VP of BPIR to create SOPs around how Health Leads engages from both the philanthropic and earned revenue perspectives. Define goals, conduct risk assessment, and create a comprehensive multi-year plan.

At Health Leads, we strive to offer competitive salaries. The posted salary range is based on the market value for similar positions at similarly sized organizations and our salary band for the position level. When determining salary offers, we take into consideration relevant years of experience, total years of work experience and internal benchmarking to maintain internal equity. We define relevant years of work experience as experience in an equivalent role with similar levels of responsibility and work. For senior director level positions, we are looking for experience setting the direction of a team, taking a project from strategy to operations, partnering with senior leadership to to develop a plan and ensuring managers and associates are able to execute against goals. Senior directors typically report to executive leadership (Executive Director, Vice-President, C-Suite), and project manage and/or manage other directors, managers, and associates.
