Financial Planning Relationship Manager Job Description:

Drives engagement and quality outcomes for clients by promoting the financial planning experience and process through collaboration with Equitable Advisors Financial Professionals (FPs). Ensures quality of advice (including comprehensive and goal/needs based) through partnership with FPs in utilizing supported tools. This support includes inbound and outbound call support, financial planning case design, and one-on-one consultations. Identifies gaps in financial plans and assist FPs in bridging the gap. Reviews plans for opportunities given the client's goals and risk tolerance to support strategic insights and recommendations pertaining to Equitable Advisors’ advisory, life, and annuity business.

In this role, the Financial Planning Relationship Manager is responsible for:

  • Promotion of the financial planning process and ensuring the quality of advice for both fee and non-fee plans though collaboration with FPs
  • Supporting FPs throughout the financial planning process. This includes inbound phoneline support, financial planning case design, and one-on-one consultations
  • Ensuring the Written Supervisory Procedures (WSPs) are being followed and maintaining timely and accurate documentation of compliance with the WSPs

The Financial Planning Relationship Manager should be able to:

  • Research and resolve issues in a timely and quality manner, and escalate more complex issues to department leadership where and when appropriate
  • Understand ways to support and grow financial planning in accordance with the WSPs of the team, as well as contribute to the continuous improvement of the process
  • Provide subject matter expertise for training and development of FPs, Financial Planning Team members, and the Wealth Management organization
  • Conduct training for FPs on the financial planning process and use of financial planning software tools via webinars or in-person as needed
  • Understand and manage asset allocation model updates and associated risk tolerance questionnaires, as well as coordinating with financial planning software vendors
  • Lead and/or participate in process improvement and technology projects as needed

The base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance or Business degree preferred)
  • 3+ years relevant experience required in a financial services environment including financial planning, retirement & wealth management
  • FINRA Series 7 & 66

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of retail financial services industry as well as background in financial planning and/or advanced markets
  • Experience with eMoney, Asset-Map, AdvicePay, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Commitment to learning and expanding knowledge of financial services
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects
  • Advanced designations (e.g. CFP or ChFC)
  • Software vendor management experience is a plus

Skills

Financial Planning Instruments (Pensions, Annuities, etc.): Knowledge of financial planning products, market segments and marketplaces; ability to analyze and apply knowledge of financial planning products to meet financial goals and objectives.

Financial Services Industry: Knowledge of financial services industry trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations and trendsetters; ability to provide specific financial advice to clients.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
