About us

Owkin is building the first universal AI Operating System called K to lay the foundation for Biological Artificial Superintelligence (BASI). This OS integrates a suite of AI agents that decode complex biology, accelerate research, and dramatically increase productivity. Acting as copilots, Owkin K agents will automate drug discovery and diagnostics and power next-gen pharma companies.

Owkin’s OS will be powered by the world’s largest federated multimodal patient data network, a robotized lab, leading AGI technologies, and cutting-edge multimodal foundation models and LLMs.

 

About the role:

As a Senior Partnerships Development Manager you will develop and lead partnerships with academic and commercial players to secure Owkin’s access to multimodal datasets. With partnerships already contracted across North America with some of the most prestigious academic medical centers/health systems (e.g. Stanford, Duke, UCSF, NYU, WUSTL, among others) and under the responsibility of the Vice President of Partnerships - North America, you will be  part of the North American Partnership Development team. Your main objectives will be to develop and secure data & sample access across USA and Canada with the support of your supervisor and team mates. Working directly with operations, scientific, legal and IT teams you’ll support Owkin´s data access and samples access expansion strategy locally.

In particular, you will:
  • Leverage your own network in oncology, immunology, neurology, cardiovascular and other therapeutic areas to develop Owkin’s network expansion and strengthen relationships with KOLs.
  • Identify and connect with academic researchers, institutes, RWD, CRO, biopharma and medtech companies to explore potential data plus samples access opportunities and collaborations.  
  • Lead day-to-day engagement with these academic and commercial partners to develop long-term collaborations.
  • Maintain academic and commercial partner account relationships and processes.
  • Lead the negotiation of business terms to secure academic and commercial partnerships in a timely manner, in collaboration with our legal teams.
  • Act as the voice of our partners to identify opportunities to enhance existing products, and identify new potential product offerings.
  • Actively participate in developing Owkin’s partnerships development strategy, in close collaboration with other Owkin teams.
  • Interact with the R&D team to develop skills in machine learning for biomedical data.
  • Represent Owkin at local and international conferences.
  • Build a local footprint, in collaboration with the marketing and communication team.

Position is based in our New York or Boston offices or remotely in an EST or CST time zone.

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in life or information sciences (MD, PharmD, or Master / PhD, in biology, bioinformatics, biological engineering, computer science, information technology or similar) OR a degree from business school and experience in biomedical research, pharmaceutical companies, technology transfer etc.
  • A good level of experience developing business relationships in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or biomedical/healthtech/Medtech/CRO organizations or technology transfer.
  • A good level of experience negotiating software and/or data licensing contracts with biopharma/healthcare/medtech  accounts.
  • An understanding of working with academic biomedical research institutions or experience in hospital/academic innovation or technology transfer offices.
  • The ability to work and interact with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds both internally and externally.
  • An ability to work in an international context.
  • Previous experience in working with multi modal data (Genomics, Histology, Clinical, Radiology) is a plus.
  • Passion about innovation, information technology and analytics.
  • Strategic vision and problem solving capacity.
  • The ability to prioritize and to juggle multiple work streams.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to travel in North America and internationally for partnership and company meetings, and conferences (~once  a month) .
  • An understanding of data privacy and legal context for the United States/Canada/EU. 

Pay Transparency

The mid point of the compensation range for this role in the USA is $145,000 plus an equity option scheme, individual and family health insurance, 401k retirement, generous annual leave allowance of 35 days (in addition to any State or Federal recognised holidays) and flexible spending accounts. 

Individual compensation packages will vary based on factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, assessed through the interview process. Owkin reserves the right to modify compensation structures based on business needs, geographic location, market conditions, and other factors.
