This is a hybrid position with 2 days in the Columbia, Maryland office, and 3 days work-from-home.

The Accounting Technician provides essential support to the Finance Department in areas such as accounts payable, payroll support, and general financial administration. This role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, helps with vendor payments, supports payroll processes, and contributes to overall financial compliance and operations.

Responsibilities:

Process and manage vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare timely payments.
Maintain vendor accounts and reconcile statements.
Review and process employee expense reports via Concur.
Assist with payroll journal entries and coordination of state payroll tax filings with the payroll vendor.
Support preparation of presentations, reports, organization charts, agendas, and other documentation as needed.
Participate in special projects and financial process improvements.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Associates degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
2–3 years of experience in accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting roles.
Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Familiarity with Concur or similar expense management platforms.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
