About our Emergency Department:

Baptist Louisville Emergency Department has thirty-two beds divided into four pods of eight beds each (staffed with one provider, two RNs and one tech per pod), and nine beds in the Clinical Decision Unit, this fast-paced ED treats an average of more than 150 patients per day.

Types of cases include acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries and psychiatric patients. We are recognized by the American Heart Association as both a STEMI receiving center and a designated Primary Stroke Center. The ages of those treated range from neonate to geriatric. An extensive orientation program allows the emergency nurse to work autonomously with a wide range of clinical specialties in treating the emergent patients and families.
