ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Cars.com’s Editorial department is passionate about helping car shoppers find the right car for their life. That means we dive into the details to demystify not only cars and car shopping but also car ownership.
As a News Editor at Cars.com, you enjoy digging into data to find coverage opportunities, writing articles and shooting videos that inform and educate consumers throughout their car search. And you’ll work with some of the best automotive journalists in the business (we’re biased, of course).
Ultimately, we’re looking for someone with a can-do attitude who’s ready to jump in and help create content, whether that’s for Cars.com’s News, Research or Video sections or even our social channels.
Create long- and short-form articles using Cars.com and industry data; write video scripts and appear on camera; and create content for social platforms, as needed
Role requires strong research skills with the ability to generate original, insightful reporting
Manage and balance priorities and meet multiple deadlines
Experience in SEO writing and content optimization, including headlines and keyword search
Assist with assigning daily news and content edits as needed
Some travel should be expected
Opportunity to review cars, based on individual performance
Role is remote
ABOUT YOU:
Strong data analysis and organizational skills
Comfortable pitching ideas
Strong writing background and grammar skills
Able to meet deadlines consistently
Collaborate cross-functionally
On-screen experience/comfort
5-7 years experience in automotive journalism and optimizing writing for SEO, including headlines and keyword search
Basic knowledge of HTML and strong familiarity with content management systems (e.g. WordPress or similar)
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field
