We are looking for a Data Protection Manager, leading Hempel privacy function for a 9 months parental leave cover from September 2025 until approximately June/July 2026. You will be part of our Compliance and Data Protection team in Hempel’s global operations and will collaborate with colleagues from all segments and functions across our organisation.

Hempel has its Corporate Head Office in Lyngby, and the Compliance and Data Protection team supports the entire Hempel Group. The position is based in Lyngby, Denmark.

Will you be a part of a trusted team?

  • Lead and drive data protection roadmap and compliance projects, many of which involve the implementation or optimization of compliance technology, ensuring alignment with GDPR and other relevant data privacy laws.

  • Manage and lead Hempel’s global Privacy team, providing direction, support, and oversight across all privacy-related activities.

  • Provide expert advice to the business on data protection matters, including risk assessments, DPIAs, contract reviews, and handling of data subject rights.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across functions to ensure privacy by design in new systems, tools, and processes.

  • Report to senior management on data protection progress, key risks, and the overall maturity of Hempel’s privacy programme, providing clear insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Support our organisation and leadership teams with timely, professional and operational advice.

Can you see yourself contributing to the bigger picture?

  • Manage and lead the global Privacy team, ensuring consistent and practical application of data protection principles across the organisation

  • Advise on data subject rights, DPIAs, third-party risk, and cross-border data transfers, collaborating with key stakeholders globally

Are you a digitally minded, operational hero and strategic thinker who can build trustful relationships?

Our ideal candidate will come from an international environment, where people and customers are at the core. Furthermore, we expect that you have:

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in data protection, privacy, or compliance, preferably in an international or matrixed organisation.

  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR and global privacy regulations, including practical experience with implementation and oversight of privacy programmes

  • Experience leading or managing a privacy team or acting as a key privacy advisor within a compliance function

  • Proven ability to translate legal requirements into operational practices and collaborate with business and digital stakeholders

  • Familiarity with digital tools and systems supporting compliance and privacy operations, and a drive to automate or improve existing processes

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across functions, regions, and levels of seniority

  • Recognised privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, or similar, are strongly preferred

  • Professional integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
