Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process & Applications Engineer focused on laser powder bed fusion technology. This role combines deep process development expertise with customer-facing applications engineering to drive the successful adoption of additive manufacturing technology for our Indian market. The position requires extensive collaboration with international teams (APAC, Germany and USA), and a comprehensive understanding of metal additive manufacturing processes.
Your Mission
Process Development & Optimization
- Adapt and optimize process products for laser systems in the metal sector specifically for the India project.
- Independently plan and conduct process tests to optimize processes and properties of Ti64 and Aluminum alloys using laser-based technologies
- Implement innovative process parameters as part of an interdisciplinary international team.
- Transfer solutions and ideas into customer applications to verify customer benefits
- Create and execute design of experiments (DOE) to support development projects
Customer Applications & Support
- Act as subject matter expert in cross-functional projects to solve complex technical manufacturing problems for Indian customers
- Perform benchmark builds and demonstrations for prospective customers
- Structure and execute customer-driven co-engineering projects
- Document and communicate customer requirements for optimizing and further developing EOS products
- Support efficient ramp-up of Indian customers through strategic collaboration with applications engineering teams
- Consultancy and thought leadership to customers and prospects regarding applications, part selection and addressing pain points
- Able to articulate and validate business case scenarios to prospects to position EOS solutions appropriately and effectively
International Collaboration & Project Management
- Coordinate with external development partners and international team members in APAC, Germany and USA
- Manage complex project tasks/work packages within interdisciplinary development teams with cross functional reporting structures
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between global teams and local Indian operations
- Participate in PFMEA studies and risk assessment efforts for laser powder bed fusion processes
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Document and present test results with interdisciplinary interpretation focused on potential improvements
- Maintain active knowledge management through appropriate documentation and internal knowledge transfer
- Evaluate processes and test geometries in cooperation with external partners
Your Talents:
Education & Experience
- Master's/Doctorate degree in materials science, metallurgy, physics, process engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or comparable field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in additive manufacturing, preferably powder bed-based technologies
- Experience in metallography and/or powder metallurgy in corporate R&D environment
- Strong background in laser powder bed fusion processes with deep understanding of laser-powder interaction
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in DOE (Design of Experiments) methods
- Software skills: JMat, Minitab, Matlab, Olympus STREAM software, Magics, SolidWorks, MS Office
- Experience with mounting/polishing/etching equipment and optical microscopy

- Excellent self-organization skills with analytical and goal-oriented work approach
- Strong communication skills and confident, service-oriented manner with both internal teams and customers
- Demonstrated team spirit, flexibility, and resilience
- Experience in scientific work and experimental design with good understanding of technical contexts
- Strong project management capabilities including planning, estimation, execution, and control
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with matrixed reporting structures
- Have proven demonstration of customer first mentality
Language & Travel Requirements
- Fluent written and spoken English language skills (essential)
- German language skills preferred and considered a significant advantage
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally for business purposes
- Experience working in multicultural, international team environments
