Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technology savvy Staff Accountant to join our Accounting

team. This position will be responsible for performing critical administrative and accounting

support functions. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and able to prioritize, yet

juggle, multiple deadlines.

Requirements

Responsibilities:


  • Mortgage Insurance Payments: Process and pay private and government mortgage insurance (MI) premiums online for newly funded loans, adhering to critical payment due deadlines and avoiding late fees. Maintain accurate MI payment records, including payment receipts and recording payment amounts and dates in the Loan Origination System (LOS).
  • Purchase Advice Processing: Download purchase advice documents or CSV files from investor websites for recently sold loans; Enter/Import purchase advice data into LOS and reconcile related transactions; Import purchase advice data and supporting documentation into Warehouse funding systems and ensure timely settlement of sold loans;
  • Warehouse Line Management: Pay down warehouse lines for settled transactions using purchase advice data; Ensure timely application of paydowns to maintain efficient warehouse line management and reduce interest expense.
  • MI Refund Processing: Process MI refund requests for errors or cancellations; Maintain adequate documentation and ensure timely follow-up with MI providers as needed.
  • Compensation Plan updates: Complete compensation plan changes for Branch Managers, ensuring timely and accurate completion and submission to Payroll.
  • Additional Duties: Assist with other accounting tasks as assigned, if time is available; Collaborate with other accounting team members and departments to support operational and financial accuracy; Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner


Results:


  • Timely and accurate MI payments is critical to avoid substantial late fees and other waterfall issues that arise if payments are made late;
  • Timely and accurate full cycle processing our Purchase Advices and Warehouse paydowns to avoid unnecessary days’ interest expense and support the timely and accurate completion of the accounting department’s loan accounting cycle;
  • Quick response times to inquiries via e-mail, telephone or chat ensuring department Service Level Agreements are maintained of same day response times, or 10:00 am if inquiry received after 3:00 pm mountain time.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but not required; 1-2 accounting or related experience in lieu;
  • 1-2 years accounting, administrative or related experience preferred;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. and/or Google Sheets
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


Working Conditions:


  • Standard office environment: remote flexibility may be considered based on company policy.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during month-end and year-end closing periods.


$21.63 - $24.04 DOE
