The Sales Account Manager (SAM), reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, is responsible for acquiring new business and nurturing existing customer relationships in the Southwest - Southern California region. This role focuses on building client trust, identifying opportunities to grow revenue, and delivering a consultative sales experience tailored to each veterinary partner's needs.
Sales Activities:
Meet or exceed all sales activity and revenue goals
Grow Book of Business within assigned territory
Prospect and acquire new business aggressively
Utilize CRM tools to manage and track activity
Promote all Gateway and affiliated company services
Conduct weekly outbound calls and client visits
Partner with Sales and Operations to refine strategy
Account Management:
Sustain and grow existing client relationships
Identify and retain at-risk accounts
Schedule and conduct regular strategic account reviews
Provide timely follow-ups on all customer inquiries
Use geocoding to optimize route and outreach
Market Analysis & Reporting:
Develop annual sales and marketing strategies
Monitor competitive landscape and position Gateway accordingly
Submit weekly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports as needed
Customer Service:
Understand unique clinic needs and tailor services
Resolve client concerns promptly and professionally
Liaise with Operations to debrief on service issues
Proactively respond to current and future client requirements
Minimum 3 years in account management or veterinary industry experience
Strong understanding of relationship-based sales
Experience working with KPIs and CRM tools
Post-secondary education in business or sales/marketing preferred
Must have a clean driver’s record and reliable vehicle
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Highly motivated, energetic, and self-directed
Adaptable, collaborative, and solutions-oriented
Able to manage stress, juggle multiple priorities, and maintain professionalism
Must be mobile and able to travel within assigned territory (up to 50% overnight)
Frequent sitting, walking, and computer use
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to care center environments
Some weekend work may be required for deadlines or industry events
