The Opportunity

As a National Strategic Account Manager for Abbott’s Core Diagnostics Division (Core Dx), you will be responsible for managing the entire relationship and product portfolio across some of the largest national and multi-region Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). This high-impact role serves as the guardian of master contract terms and conditions, driving strategic customer relationships from senior executives to local management. You will lead national strategy development, foster cross-functional collaboration, and deliver innovative, value-based solutions that align with evolving healthcare needs. With a strong focus on market insight, financial performance, and quality systems, you will develop and execute long-term account strategies that ensure customer satisfaction, retention, and growth. Your leadership will be instrumental in expanding value, securing renewals, and positioning assigned accounts as strong references for Abbott. Experience working with Health Trust is strongly preferred. Desired location is Central US, Eastern US.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop and execute national strategies for key accounts, aligning with client goals and market dynamics to drive long-term growth.

  • Build and maintain senior-level (C-Suite) relationships to influence strategic decisions, secure favorable contract terms, and position Abbott as a trusted partner.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement strategic account plans, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and timelines to ensure successful execution.

  • Collaborate with regional sales and service leaders to promote customer-centric initiatives and ensure compliance with internal standards.

  • Coordinate internal stakeholders across Abbott’s business units to deliver a unified value proposition and maximize account impact.

  • Identify and implement innovative solutions, including emerging technologies like AlinIQ, to address evolving client needs and differentiate Abbott’s offerings.

  • Partner with legal and contract management teams to ensure agreements meet internal policies and legal requirements.

  • Monitor healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic planning and client engagement.

  • Guide clients through complex industry shifts such as healthcare reform and distribution channel consolidation, offering strategic insight and support.

  • Translate business insights into multi-year strategic account plans with actionable short-term tactics that drive measurable results.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers to protect base business and uncover new growth opportunities.

  • Advocate for customer needs within Abbott, aligning internal resources and strategies to deliver maximum value.

  • Analyze financial performance indicators to support strategic decisions and negotiate long-term contracts that drive mutual success.

  • Ensure adherence to quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Proven sales experience and success at executive level selling broad and complex product line for a minimum for 7+ years with a minimum of 10+ years of related sales experience.  ​

  • Ability to travel 50-75% to cover assigned accounts.

  • Diagnostics experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred

  • Proven ability to build long term strategic and senior level relationships and demonstrated capability to uncover a large complex organization’s strategic long-term plan and short-term tactics and translate into a winning solution.

  • Proven success as an expert in all aspects of value-based, solution selling and ability to work in cross-functional teams to meet clearly defined objectives that benefit the company and customer.

  • Executive level business and financial acumen, strong team leadership skills and knowledge of all products and services, with a focus on end to end solution selling.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, speak in public, and adapt to rapidly changing environments is a must.

  • Possess strong negotiation skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong internal and external networking skills with robust inter-personal skills that will develop and enhance long term relationships.

  • Consulting experience is preferred.

    $111,300.00 – $222,700.00
