Job description

The Senior Director / Team Leader is responsible for leading Pfizer Oncology efforts at National Accounts in the US.  This role includes oversight of key stakeholder groups that are national in scope including

  • Group Purchasing Organizations
  • Other nationally prominent Oncology-specific organizations with national “networks” (e.g., select pathway organizations and EMR/Data organizations)
  • Commercial Reference Labs

(The scope of responsibilities does not include US-based payers, wholesaler parents of GPOs, specialty pharmacies, patient advocacy or professional organizations.)

The position is responsible for defining the optimal engagement model with key stakeholders of national scope in the US to ensure Pfizer preserves its leadership position.  This includes leading the team in assessing and advancing any transactions as well as defining key initiatives that can improve patient care, are impactful to our portfolio and reflect an understanding of these key stakeholders’ strengths and limitations.

Responsibilities:

Leads a high performing team of specialized and experienced Oncology National Account Directors in a dynamic and evolving marketplace.  National Accounts impact anywhere from 25% to 50% of Oncology portfolio sales.

Leads two Oncology customer and channel management directors who manage GPO programs, promotion, innovative strategies and tactics and performance management across a full portfolio of oral, biosimilar and branded IV/Injectable contracted products.

Leads efforts to expertly engage national stakeholders in the marketplace and preserve Pfizer’s position as the premier oral oncolytics manufacturer in the US

  • Understands the “critical few” organizations with national import in sufficient depth to customize the deployment of NADs and other direct reports to drive optimal engagement
  • Oversees and advances all transactions and key strategic partnerships with national accounts and stakeholders
    • Leads a thorough, analytically driven process in collaboration with brand marketing, contracting and legal teams to assess transactional options
    • Maintains working knowledge of transactional space and collaborates with Contract Strategy and Legal teams to ensure all efforts are undertaken with a focus on integrity as well as meeting market demands
  • Leads cross-functional efforts to ensure optimal communication within national account networks

Ensures the National Accounts team is a source of strategic intelligence and leads the organization to a premier status in this market

  • Provides structured direction and coaching to team members to ensure monitoring of key market trends, prioritization of accounts, identification of high priority mutual interests and execution of initiatives with integrity
  • Develops a collaborative partnership with HQ stakeholders (eg, LT, marketing leaders) to prioritize initiatives
  • Identifies the most critical account management training needs and supports VP in evolving team into the best-in-class oncology account management function by focusing on AM-specific training curriculum
  • Develops Key Performance Indicators and drives transparent communication of key efforts
  • Expertly engages HQ functions, and acts as liaison with HQ colleagues re: account activities.  Understands business processes, terminology, and integration with different teams (i.e., marketing, contracting, brand, etc.)

Acts as the executive representative of the National Accounts function both externally and internally

  • Selectively expands relationships by engaging with appropriate executives within stakeholder organizations.
  • Provides support to the VP in the development of long-term strategic relationships

Sets tone for entire team to comply with all Corporate Policies and Procedures, while conducting all job-related activities with integrity and adherence to Pfizer’s high standards of business conduct.

Serves as a member of the Oncology Accounts Group leadership team and brings perspective to impact Pfizer Oncology’s strategic vision in the organized customer space

Requirements:

             

  • 12+ years of diverse commercial experience in pharmaceutical industry with focus on customer-facing functions
  • Oncology Account Management experience, a deep understanding of Oncology marketplace, and experience with Oncology contracts required
  • Demonstrated ability to expertly engage senior executives at large accounts – ideally having these relationships established already
  • Demonstrated success in leading field based teams
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with the ability to formulate, develop, write, communicate and monitor the execution of stakeholder business plans
  • Experience working with contracts, participating in contract strategy and contract execution highly preferred
  • Provider-facing account management experience highly preferred
  • Experience in executing and in overseeing highly complex programs and projects preferred

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,800.00 to $366,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
