Job description

Vocational Operations Manager | Full-Time

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm; No Weekends!

SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Director of Vocational and Transitional Services, plans, develops, and implements all activities associated with the operation of vocational services at Hope. Ensures participants are afforded the opportunities to learn social and vocational skills necessary to be employed in the community and/or therapeutic day training opportunities. Coordinates and/or ensures all activities including but not limited to participant transportation, supervision of staff and participant, program implementation and data collection, financial oversight and reconciliation, etc. are appropriately implemented. Ensures advertising, outreach, and working with both Hope and Community partner(s) to ensure the successful operation of the vocational program. As appropriate, participates in meetings as required.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Evaluates participants’ vocational skills and abilities, creates and administers various assessments designed to quantitatively measure such skills and abilities.
  • Performs various duties including vocational evaluation, counseling, guidance, testing, development and job placement.
  • Develops and evaluates vocational curriculum. 
  • Acts as a resource for other staff members to provide assistance as needed. 
  • May assist supervisor/manager in review of reports.
  • Ensures data completion of job skills, using appropriate data sheets, and documenting student progress; task analysis, etc.
  • Actively participates in meetings as needed as well as student meetings ensuring completion of required forms/reports.
  • Creates and monitors job readiness activities/sites within the Vocational Academy.
  • Models appropriate behavior to participants and Job Coaches (manner of speech, professional dress, etc)
  • Assist in transporting participants as required.  
  • Provides assistance in participant vocational enrollment processes.
  • Maintaining records and making necessary reports related to vocational training programs.
  • Manages billing/funding associated with the program.
  • Acts as community representative to all community stakeholders
  • Provides in-service training to student vocational staff as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of students as outlined in the agency’s policies and procedures
  • Oversees the Educational Accreditation process.  
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Four years’ experience working with students with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License and meet all DCFS requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Acts as it applies to vocational rehabilitation.
  • Successful background clearance, physical and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of vocational rehabilitation services and developmental disabilities. 
  • Strong communication skill set. 
  • Maintains professional boundaries with colleagues and families. 
  • Sensitive to cultural differences. 
  • Organized and punctual. 
  • Communicates effectively with professionals of different fields of study. 
  • Demonstrates problem solving and flexibility in difficult situations.

WHAT WE PREFER:

  • Bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, education, psychology, sociology, or organizational development. 
  • Experience developing and implementing business practices.
  • Experience creating programs for persons with disabilities.
