Director, Third Party Distribution, OTA Strategy

Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Director, Third Party Distribution in the Third-Party Distribution team within the Distribution Division. The Distribution Division is responsible for managing and optimizing how Choice Hotels connects with guests through various digital and third-party channels. As a key member of our Third-Party Distribution team, you will lead strategic partnerships with global Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), driving innovation and revenue growth while reducing distribution costs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identify and build global partnership opportunities with OTAs and other third-party platforms to drive revenue and brand visibility.
  • Lead and inspire a team of Strategic Account Managers to exceed performance expectations.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize all OTA partners & segments as well as their distribution paths.
  • Ability to negotiate and manage commercial contracts with top-producing Internet travel sites.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance and partner fulfillment metrics to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with international teams to align regional strategies with Choice’s global eCommerce goals.
  • Drive initiatives to convert properties to Choice’s CRS connections and resolve rate parity issues.
  • Stay current on industry trends and represent Choice in key organizations such as HEDNA, AHLA, and HSMAI.
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure alignment with company policies.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to enhance third-party distribution capabilities.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in internet travel distribution, GDSs, or travel industry partnerships.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing people and leading teams.
  • Proven success in budget management and project execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrates key competencies: Strategic ThinkingLeadership, and Results Orientation.

Your Team

This is a leadership role that will report to the Senior Director, Distribution Strategy. You will have up to 3 direct reports and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Director, Third Party Distribution, you will be a remote-based associate, working from your home office. You will be required to connect virtually with Choice team members and leadership on video via Zoom, with possible periodic travel in-person to our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide offices in North Bethesda, MD, Scottsdale, AZ, or St. Louis Park, MN. Occasional domestic and international travel (less than 10%) may be required.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $188,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP) and may also be eligible for annual awards of Choice Hotels International common stock through Choice’s Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTI Plan).

The pay range listed is for this position and is what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
