Head of IT Systems

Our client is an award-winning company in their field and has been recognised for their employee engagement and staff wellbeing programmes. Technology has been recognised as a key driver for the business and we now have a need to recruit a Head of IT Systems to implement and deliver an IT business strategy to take the business forward into the next 5 years.

The Head of IT Systems will be responsible for the effective development of an IT strategy, lead the implementation, set policies/processes/metrics and to build a plan to integrate disparate systems.

The Head of IT Systems will have 3 direct reports and will report to the Chief Executive Officer. This role will be part of the SLT so will work closely with the management team to develop a strategic roadmap for IT and the efficient operation of systems to support the business growth.

Key Responsibilities for the Head of IT Systems: -

•  The development of an IT strategy and lead on the implementation.
• Implement new systems from inception and system identification through to fully operational.
• Manage 3rd party vendor relationships in conjunction with the CFO and CEO.
• Effective management of 2 experienced engineers
• Manage, optimise and identify any opportunities to improve the end-to-end process with all stakeholders

Technical Responsibilities of the Head of IT Systems

(Many of which will be done by the team and the outsourced provision)

•  Office 365 administration, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive.
• Network administration (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN access, backups).
• Administration and maintaining the business-critical systems and services.
• Administration and maintaining SQL databases.
• Administration and maintaining Power BI and data analytic systems.

  

Essential Skills needed for the IT Systems Manager: - 

• Proven successful track record in within a business systems/IT management role, with strong knowledge of IT change projects and implementation of an IT business strategy.
• Proven business acumen and resilience.
• Management experience in a similar role
• Technical understanding of MS 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), MS SQL 2008/2017 and PowerBI
• An appreciation of (or an understanding of how) to Integrate complex systems using APIs
• Strong professional communication and presentation skills.
• Can implement business decisions with energy and commitment; proactive and supportive.
• Have a strong knowledge of information security, antivirus protection methods, and encryption tools.
• Full driving license, own vehicle and willing to travel across South Wales.

Hours: 08:30 – 16:30 and the working location is 1-2 day a week in Cardiff and 3 days from home
