  • Report directly to the Program Director of Public Health regarding course progress and student performance.

South College Online seeks candidates for an adjunct Public Health faculty member. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Public Health, and preference will be given to candidates who have successfully taught Public Health in the online format. The position is online remote and will report directly to the Program Director of Public Health.  


Specific courses are:


Foundations of Public Health Practice

This course will explore the principles and concepts on which public health practice is based. It will provide students with a broad framework for understanding the impact of public health practice on population health.


 Community and Population Health

This course will explore the impact of the social determinants of health, health disparities, health inequity, and health inequality from the community and population perspective. Students will assess health outcomes and use behavioral and social science to provide appropriate responses to develop, improve and facilitate social and behavioral change efforts.


 Health Science Leadership

This course provides a historical perspective of leadership theory. Various models will be discussed to allow the students to develop their personal leadership style. An analysis of trends in motivational studies, conflict resolution, and organizational change will be conducted. Specific professional knowledge will be reviewed to assure the student’s transition into the health care system. Basic issues concerning resource management will be included.


 Environmental Health

This course explores the biological, chemical, and physical factors affecting human health and the environment. The course provides students with practical applications for a safer and healthier environment and also focuses on the impact of these factors on public health and society including approaches to regulations, enforcement, and policy development.


Requirements

  

Applicants must have a terminal degree in Public Health. Preference will be given to applicants with prior successful online teaching.
