We are now hiring for a full-time Workforce Specialist at our Calumet location. 

SALARY:

The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $49,250 and $54,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Ensure compliance with agency and programmatic standards to meet client needs.  
  • Maintain and submit to Workforce Development Director, placement reports, employer partnership agreements, and other required information. 
  • Coordinates employment partner recruitment with Job Developers agency wide.
  • Coordinate workforce services trainings including scheduling, workshop curriculum, facilitators, and external vendors for training, agency wide. 
  • Works collaboratively with other program staff to carry out program goals.
  • Develop and foster professional relationships with employers and placement agencies to ensure consistent work partnership.
  • Design and develop employment service marketing program.
  • Perform situational assessments and vocational explorations.
  • Observe and document consumers vocational assets and limitations in regard to employment. 
  • Facilitate Job Clubs with guest speakers and employers for clients regarding career and life development. 
  • Assist clients in obtaining permanent, unsubsidized jobs in high demand industries.  
  • Provide work support and referrals.
  • Handle emergency and crisis situations with residents.
  • Work within contract, grant, and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements. 
  • Utilize a team approach and work with other program staff in the planning and implementation of services.  
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

  • Take increasing responsibility for own professional development, utilizing supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency to enhance skills and understanding.
  • Work effectively with diverse staff and service populations.
  • Highly organized.
  • Knowledge of Excel to track economic self-sufficiency data.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of training or demonstrated experience in a related area preferred.
  • Highschool diploma with 7+ years of experience in employer outreach, sales, marketing or related field required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks. 

TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites required. 

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
