Job Purpose:

The Communications Advisor – Staff Engagement is a vital part of the Internal Communications team working to inform, engage and inspire World Vision staff, leaders, volunteers and Boards/Advisory Councils across the world. The role will utilize digital platforms and leverage emerging technology to deliver news, stories, critical information and events to both World Vision global centre staff, as well as the broader Partnership across 100 countries. Working in a highly collaborative environment, the role will support efforts to foster understanding and support of the global strategy Our Promise, together with the organisation’s mission, vision and values, as we collectively work to bring fullness of life to vulnerable children around the world.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver an integrated staff engagement plan under the direction of the Senior Manager - Internal Engagement Communications.
  • Manage the Partnership's internal campaigns calendar, including: Safeguarding Week, Partnership Month, Day of Prayer, etc.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators relevant to internal audience engagement.
  • Develop content plans and produce or curate a range of high-quality communications pieces, including written, audio, video, and specialised speaker briefs, event programmes and internal promotional efforts towards the overall engagement plan.  
  • Lead liaison efforts with key department leaders and internal partners, including the President’s Office, People and Culture, Global Technology and Digital, Global Governance and Strategy Realisation and Innovation to ensure planning and curation of content for internal publication.
  • Contribute to Global Marketing and Communications engagement efforts that build team unity, collaboration and trust.

Required Experience,  Knowledge and/or other Qualifications

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or equivalent
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Minimum of 7 years working in written communications and managing communications channels.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a commitment to storytelling quality.
  • Ability to emotionally move and engage a variety of audiences.
  • Diplomatic and assertive, able to influence staff at all levels.
  • Translates technical and policy information into clear and concise content; Able to synthesise information.
  • Audience-oriented and strong interviewing skills.
  • Appreciates multi-cultural environments, demonstrates cultural sensitivities, and shows a commitment to diversity.
  • Committed to child and adult safeguarding and protection.
  • Able to priortise according to strategic need.
  • Self-starter and able to initiate and progress work without immediate supervision.
  • Collaborative and a team player.
  • Strategic and critical thinker, and moves easily between high-level concepts and detailed features.
  • Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Preferred Experience,  Knowledge and/or other Qualifications

  • Experience working through or managing others.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Second spoken/written language.
  • Good understanding of World Vision, its mission, vision and values.
  • Experience working with an international humanitarian or development organisation.
  • Good understanding of the contribution of strategic communications to a global, federated organisation.
  • Understanding of the functional processes in complex global organisations.
  • Demonstrated success managing or directing change-management processes.
