The Operations Manager oversees daily activities within various departments of the Jacksonville Plant Operations, including MBT, Special Handling, and Tradeport. They are responsible for safety, housekeeping, quality, and productivity, and managing union workforces. Additionally, they collaborate with Dominican Republic operations (MTP, SDI, Tamboril, TBO, Agio, UTP) to support Swisher manufacturing. Their focus includes cost control, continuous improvement, and efficient management of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production schedules that meet customer demand and delivery deadlines
  • Oversee inventory management to ensure there are enough materials to meet production needs without excess waste
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure products meet specifications
  • Analyze production data to identify and address quality issues
  • Work with quality control personnel to maintain a culture of continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and streamline operations
  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and best practices in manufacturing
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols
  • Collaborate with Operations Leadership to develop and manage operational budgets
  • Monitor production costs and identify areas for cost reduction
  • Report on operational performance metrics to senior management
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation
  • Liaise with other departments, such as engineering, purchasing, and sales
  • Resolve production problems and ensure smooth operation of the manufacturing facility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, or 5+ years of management experience

  • Management Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook: Strong computer skills for data analysis, reporting, and communication
  • NetSuite or Comparable ERP Tool Experience: Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems
  • Nextworld Cloud Inventory (DSI) or Comparable Warehouse Management Tool Experience: Knowledge of warehouse management tools
  • Knowledge of the Tobacco Industry: Understanding of industry-specific processes and challenges
  • Strong Ability to Work Under Pressure: Effective decision-making and problem-solving in high-pressure situations
  • Travel: up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field

  • 5+ years of Management experience in manufacturing operations with experience using in-database analytics, NetSuite, and DSI
  • Bi-lingual, proficient in speaking and writing in Spanish
