MMK99K - Senior Director, Head of Marketing
Brief Description:
The Senior Director, Head of Marketing, will lead UBC’s Marketing team, having ownership and ensuring the strategic planning and delivery of all brand and segment integrated marketing campaigns, content generation, trade media, digital marketing, website design and optimization, conference & event presence and social media management. Day-to-day, this leader will ensure the comprehensive marketing strategy is aligned to business objectives, sales goals and senior leadership vision to drive brand awareness and customer acquisitions. This role will work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams including senior sales team members, segment leadership and agency partners to plan and pivot initiatives as needed to meet sales growth and market demands. The Head of Marketing is the key advocate and owner of the brand, ensuring brand integrity is at the core of all communications.
Specific job duties:
- Develop marketing strategy that aligns with business goals and translate strategy into integrated marketing plans, leading agency direction.
- Lead oversight and direction of brand management, including positioning, messaging and integrated communications.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership for marketing and communication planning and strategic development
- Manage and drive efficiencies of full-service agency partnership on the strategy and development of integrated marketing content and communications, creative concepting, sales enablement, event support, media buys, database management, customer research, scope-of-work negotiations and budget supervision.
- Oversee event planning and management, including vendor analysis, ROI tracking, process improvement, marketing communication development and budget supervision.
- Operationalize and enforce of brand identity, standards and guidelines with all internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Responsible for marketing communications performance metrics, working with the agency to develop benchmarks, KPIs and optimizations.
- Establish and operationalize efficient marketing project process management to ensure workload is aligned to business goals and agency scope-of-work.
- Oversee total sales & marketing budget management, including planning, forecasting and ongoing invoice reconciliation.
- Partner with internal communication team to align external marketing to internal comm initiatives that are strategically imperative.
- Lead and manage marketing team to drive workload efficiencies and foster a collaborative environment with internal and external cross-functional partners.
Supervisory Responsibility:
At minimum - 2 direct reports
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10-15 years relevant experience or master’s degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience
- Strong B2B marketing experience in life sciences or related industry preferred
- Knowledge of the core Clinical Research Organization market, services, and customer base
- Strong strategic vision and significant experience developing marketing strategies aligned to cross-functional business goals to launch and/or revive products and services
- Significant experience leading and managing full-service marketing and advertising agencies to deliver integrated marketing campaigns
- Mastery of multi-channel management (digital, social, content marketing) and tactic planning with ability to sell ideas to internal stakeholders and external partners
- Experience interpreting data and analytics to generate insights and perform data-based decision making
- Business acumen and understanding of financial metrics with strong budget management and reconciliation skills
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with strong ability to influence senior leadership
- Growth mindset that can see beyond the day-to-day yet pivot quickly with fast, confident decisions to help the business achieve long-term customer acquisition and retention goals
- Experienced people leader and collaborator with ability to foster genuine relationships, motivate teams and assess strengths & development areas for growth.
- Working knowledge of marketing automation applications and variety of “creative suite” technology used in marketing communication development
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
