We are looking for an energetic and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team. The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee pay in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of payroll best practices, while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
This position is based in Tampa, FL or Andover, MA
Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, including reviewing and verifying timesheets, earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits.
Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
Maintain and update payroll records, reports, and procedures.
Prepare and file required federal, state, and local payroll tax reports.
Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues promptly and professionally.
Generate and analyze payroll reports for internal departments and external auditors.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy in benefits deductions, retirement contributions, and leave balances.
Maintain confidentiality of employee records and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Keep abreast of changes in payroll laws and regulations; implement updates to policies and procedures accordingly.
Evaluate current payroll systems and processes to identify areas for efficiency and automation.
Lead initiatives to upgrade payroll software and integrate with HRIS and timekeeping systems when needed.
Job qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll experience.
Experience with multi-state payroll processing is highly desirable.
Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS systems, UKG would be preferred but not required.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of payroll best practices and relevant laws.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
