Since this is a major mission, we needed a major partner. Our INBRAIN subsidiary INNERVIA has an ongoing 4 year collaboration with Merck KGaA to decode and modulate the Vagus nerve in high resolution and deliver therapies in areas of interest for Merck at the peripheral nervous system level.
As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for the system being developed and tested and play a key role in driving pre-clinical and clinical studies to collect the relevant data to inform development or execute verification and validations studies.
You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.\n \n\n\n

\n Main responsibilities:
Prepare and Support study preparations: Coordinate and assist with study setups involving implantable devices, ensuring all equipment is functional, and compliant with protocols; contribute in writing study protocols and technical documentation; Interact with facility/hospital staff, including clinicians veterinarians, technicians; Identify and manage vendors for the selection of best/more appropriate electrophysiology tools.
Deploy and Calibrate Systems On-Site: Configure hardware and associated telemetry or recording systems in both animal and human studies; perform system integration tests prior to study execution; verify integrity of data collection streams, communication processes with the implant or test systems integrity, and device stability.
Provide Technical Support During Studies: Play a pivotal role in data collection during pre-clinical and clinical studies; troubleshoot issues during intraoperative and post-operative data collection sessions, including neural signal acquisition, stimulation delivery, impedance measurements, and device communication.
Train Clinical and Research Staff on Device Use: Deliver hands-on training to neurosurgeons, electrophysiologists, and technicians and other team members on device operation, data workflows, safety checks, and best practices for post-implant monitoring.
Document Field Observations and Drive Design Feedback: Capture technical issues, performance data, and user feedback from study sites; generate reports and communicate with R&D, quality, and regulatory teams to inform design improvements and ensure compliance.
Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills:
Degree in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, neural engineering or similar.
Hands-on experience with conducting pre-clinical medical device studies, preferably in large animal electrophysiological set-ups to test neural interface technologies for the peripheral or central nervous system.
Strong practical background in electronic hardware, acquisitions systems and software for in vivo studies with a focus on functional neurophysiology and electrophysiology.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong multitasking abilities.
Fluency in Englishrequired (company language).
A sparring partner to colleagues in other disciplines like software, electronics, or mechanics.
A high-energy, self-motivated, and pro-active individual able to work in a diverse team in a startup company.
A flexible, service minded colleague with good analytical skills, reliable, pragmatic, and result oriented.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Nice to have:
