CBE Writing Lab Coach Job Description


The CBE Writing Lab supports the mission of South College and the various professional programs by helping students become graduates who are competent and confident writers. It does so by providing focused feedback on assignments across a wide variety of disciplines from the humanities to health sciences. 


The CBE Writing Lab Coach will provide email feedback on graduate level student writing, host live events as well as schedule and attend virtual tutoring sessions with students. 


Responsibilities:

  • Respond to sessions requests/submissions either through email submissions or virtual 1:1 meeting. 
  • Expected to log all sessions in a timely fashion to aid continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate, when necessary, with disciplinary faculty to help coordinate assignment expectations. 
  • Communicate with students in a clear and positive manner that facilitates their writing growth.
  • Must be able to respond to students and their writing across all South College courses at the graduate level. 
  • Host live sessions throughout each month on various writing topics at the graduate level. 


Requirements

 

Education:

  • Terminal degree in Education, English or a writing-related field with a strong background in written communication. 

Experience

  • Knowledge of APA and AMA format
  • Prior tutoring experience at the doctoral level, dissertation experience preferred. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues, especially in an online format. 
  • Attention to detail to collect and report internal data regarding student usage of tutoring services.
