Job description

This position is fully remote. Candidates must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace to support remote collaboration.

Billing Supervisor

The Billing Supervisor supervises and monitors the daily operational functions of the billing team within Akumin RCM. This role focuses on quality assurance, process improvement, and achieving departmental goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor daily claims holds and billing, ensuring proper management of workflows.

  • Monitor operational workflows, identify issues, and address processing delays.

  • Prioritize daily work activities and resolve escalated issues.

  • Liaison with external vendors to ensure consistency in policies.

  • Work with Management and IT to correct billing edit errors, improve electronic processes, and minimize paper submissions.

  • Inform staff of changes in policies, procedures, processes, systems, and regulatory requirements.

  • Gather department metrics and prepare reports for management review.

  • Maintain knowledge of current billing practices and internal system capabilities.

  • Provide current and accurate training to staff members.

  • Serve as a liaison between billing, practice staff, and other departments.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. 

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting is preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of equivalent work experience required.

  • 2-4 years of billing/accounts receivable experience required.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience required.

  • Experience in insurance revenue cycle functions (e.g., insurance billing, charge entry, registration, payment posting, reconciliation).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Google Office, including Sheets.
