What you will be doing in the role of Manager, Project Operations

Manages a team of Project Managers, all of whom are responsible for leading cross-functional projects that impact revenue and/or have significant operational impact on the organization. Analyzes and recognizes complex business processes which can be enhanced or improved through the application of information technology.  Recommends solutions that meet the needs of the user community while adhering to the organizational standards for integration with other Komen solutions. Serves as the technical subject matter expert offering project management/product management guidance on business process automation using information technology. Key driver in strategic product and project initiatives with high visibility, working with Susan G Komen leadership to drive the successful completion of multiple parallel projects. Negotiates vendor contracts, monitors and reports on vendor budgets, and manages vendors hired to execute technical solutions on assigned projects.

What you will bring to the table 

  • Leads simultaneous project teams through the project framework processes to achieve all milestones for medium to large projects.
  • Delegates and plans workflows to effectively manage the portfolio of projects assigned to Operations team.
  • Research new technologies and methodologies to identify options to enhance current processes and systems.
  • Analyze and assess business process gaps and recommend improvements as needed to improve efficiency.
  • Uses standard techniques and tools to gather business and technical requirements in an organized and repeatable process
  • Provides guidance and direction to senior leadership in consulting, planning, and marketing of multiple, complex automated systems.
  • Use professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters.
  • Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
  • Provides on-going project management and status reporting at all levels.
  • Acts as a liaison between senior leadership and technical staff through the development life cycle on complex projects. 
  • Provides technical direction and support for complex, cross-functional configuration projects.
  • Provides input on designing test scenarios for business and functional processes during system development. 
  • Ensures quality assurance testing is completed and validates acceptability of technology solutions.
  • Translates technical information to a diverse audience with various levels of technical knowledge.
  • Assist Operations/Information Technology/Fundraising leaders with budget preparation and actively participate in vendor negotiations.
  • Serve as internal consultant for internal and external developers, partner vendors, and business owners to manage the development and deployment of new product functionality and rollout of product upgrades and migrations.
  • Analyze and report on product utilization and capability success and ROI.
  • Performs additional job duties as required.

We know you will have and be able to

  • Bachelor’s Degree: in a related technical field or equivalent work experience, master’s degree preferred
  • 7 – 10 years managing complex projects and 3-5 years managing a team. 
  • A Project Management Certification is required, i.e. PMP, DASM, PMI-ACP, CSM, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, etc.
  • Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly strategic, results-driven professional with a proven track record of completing successful multi-departmental IT projects across different platforms. 
  • Strategic, creative, resourceful leader who collaborates well in a changing environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, deliver on deadlines, and manage a workload with possible conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to successfully navigate in a demanding environment, requiring deadline-driven productivity, commitment, adaptability and follow-through.
  • Must be familiar with project management with best practices. 
  • Possess expert-level skills in process analysis of complex operations and web-based technologies. 
  • Knowledge of all IT responsibilities and familiarity with all business groups and their roles.
  • Subject Matter Expert in multiple areas, particularly in specific Product areas of accountability. 
  • Must have solid understanding of enterprise system implementations and release cycles.
  • Willingness to take personal responsibility for the outcomes resulting from his/her judgement, guidance, and decisions. 
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in method, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. 
  • Extensive knowledge of online fundraising, CRM, Financials, CMS products, and Project and Incidence Management tools.

We would love if you also have 

  • Strong ability to coordinate methods, techniques, and evaluation of criteria across organizational silos to obtain optimal results. 
  • Demonstrated ability to guide the transition of technology to scale to the growing business needs of a national, non-profit organization. 
  • Experience with information architecture is desirable. 
  • A field related certification (examples: Business Analysis Certification, ITIL, Project Management Professional) is preferred. 
  • Experience with Enterprise CRM and/or ERP solutions in a non-profit environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Asana, Jira, Luminate Online and Salesforce is preferred.

  • Approximate annual salary of $85,000 - $120,000; exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience and geographic location.
