Job description

Essential Job Responsibilities Include:

  • High-volume, multi-entity, Billing accountant, responsible for all general ledger activity generated by our Billing team
  • Prepare and calculate all journal entries for month end close (i.e, Claims days accrual, Implementation Revenue accruals)
  • Perform second-level review of billing and revenue reconciliations, as needed
  • Work independently on assigned financial close activities, such as account reconciliations or accruals; prepare and review account analyses; identify, document and resolve unusual items and issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure accounting transactions are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies by interpreting and applying US GAAP 
  • Review accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform billing fee audits monthly, ensuring invoice system (FMS) is in sync with Salesforce; questions should be resolved timely
  • Review auto-drafts prepared by Billing Specialists 
  • Cross-train in other departmental tasks, such as PBM-specific and specialty billing 
  • Assist Billing team with requests from clients and RxBenefits internal customers / departments, ensuring requests resolved timely and accurately
  • Work independently assigned JIRA tickets
  • Participate in weekly Billing team meetings and bi-weekly Departmental meetings
  • Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as required from time to time by Management
  • Prepare documentation and assist with the annual external financial statement audit
  • Update all process documents for assigned tasks and offer feedback for process improvements when appropriate
  • Review accounting processes and make recommendations as needed to address changing operations and growth

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Accounting B.S. degree required 
  • 4+ years’ experience in an accounting role
  • 1-2 years’ experience performing journal entries, preferably Intacct or similar software
  • Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and Accrual Accounting
  • Experience interpreting and applying US GAAP, making decisions on appropriate accounting methodology
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment while adapting to new challenges
  • Ability to analyze issues and make informed decisions
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, IF, COUNT)
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and solve problems
  • Well-developed written and oral communications skills
  • Takes initiative and a proactive approach to see task through completion
  • Ability to learn and apply critical thinking as needed
  • Good math aptitude and the ability to work accurately with numbers are essential
  • Highly collaborative team player


Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, IF, COUNT), preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Teams, Outlook, Word), preferred


Based on relevant market data and other factors, the anticipated hiring range for this role is $67,200 - $84,000 annually. Final compensation rates will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity considerations. This role is also short-term incentive eligible. Incentive amounts will vary by individual and business goals. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
