A&E Fiber Designer

B+T Group is seeking an experienced A&E Fiber Designer for the Tulsa, Oklahoma (corporate office). If candidate not located in Tulsa area, then position can be fully remote. This position is responsible for producing and updating detailed design drawings for fiber optic, small cell, and wireless network projects using AutoCAD. The role ensures compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, supporting leasing, permitting, zoning, engineering, and construction needs. Working closely with Project Control Managers and Engineers, the designer translates field data into accurate, build-ready plans. Additional duties may include developing templates to streamline workflows, performing quality control on design work, and reviewing drawings for accuracy and compliance.  

 Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities):

1. Research and review project requirements and design information to determine sufficiency to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.

2. Coordinate with Project Control Managers and Engineers to ensure design feasibility and integrity.

3. Determine appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template designed for the specific type of work, or by updating an existing CAD file.

4. Generate construction drawings, fiber routing plans, splice schematics, and small cell nodes. 

5. Interpret GIS data, field notes, and utility records to develop accurate construction documents. 

6. Complete the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work. Make necessary corrections to existing drawings following the quality review process.

7. Review drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.

8. Present and explain completed designs to appropriate personnel for review, adjustments and/or delivery.

9. Provide technical and procedural support to CAD Technicians and Designers.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

· Technical knowledge – Proficient in company approved computer drafting platform and drafting techniques. Knowledge of telecom design principles, including right-of-way, OSP/ISP conventions, and permitting. 

· Analytical Skills – Ability to analyze information to ascertain relevance and to visualize in 3-D

· Communication Skills - Oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly express questions, explanations and make suggestions.

· Organizational Skills – Desk management, prioritizing multiple tasks and projects to meet tight deadlines with exceptional quality.

· Computer Skills – Competent and proficient in the use of standard office computers and programs, i.e., MS Office.

· Decision Making – Adept at making design related decisions once appropriate information is gathered from various sources 

Equivalent Education/Experience

· Certificate or Associate Degree in Drafting

· 2 Years of Drafting Experience required 

· GIS experience preferred

· Small Cell/Fiber experience required

· Tower Cellular experience preferred

· Previous supervisory experience a plus
