Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fractional CFO to join bigspark as part of our finance department restructuring. This senior finance leader will bring deep expertise in M&A, corporate finance, and strategic financial leadership at the highest level to drive the company's growth and transformation.

This senior leader will provide financial oversight, lead complex transactions, and work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to shape and execute bigspark's long-term financial strategy, ensuring robust stakeholder engagement, transparency, and alignment across the business while delivering impactful results on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with bigsparks business goals and growth ambitions, with a strong focus on M&A activity and integration.

Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead and manage all aspects of M&A transactions, including target evaluation, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and post-merger integration.

Financial Planning & Analysis: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning to support decision-making and optimise capital allocation.

Capital Raising & Investor Relations: Drive capital raising initiatives, prepare investor presentations, and manage relationships with existing and prospective investors.

Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Risk Management & Controls: Identify financial risks and implement robust internal controls and governance frameworks to safeguard company assets.

Systems & Process Improvement: Lead the implementation and optimisation of financial systems and processes to support scalable growth.

Executive Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team, and the Board of Directors providing financial insights and strategic guidance.

Team Leadership & Transition: Support the smooth transition from the current Head of Finance role, mentoring finance team members as needed to elevate overall department capability.

Candidate Profile

Proven experience (10 years plus) as a CFO or senior finance leader with significant expertise in M&A transactions and corporate finance.

Strong track record of driving business growth and transformation through strategic financial leadership.

Deep understanding of financial planning, capital markets, risk management, and compliance.

Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with experience managing investor relations.

Ability to work effectively in a fractional/part-time capacity, balancing strategic priorities with operational oversight.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a hands-on approach.

Experience in technology or related sectors preferred but not essential.
