Job Summary:

This position will lead a team of New Business Developers for the FreshPoint business.
Responsible for creating the strategy and driving profitable new customer growth by defining long-term strategic goals, identifying business opportunities through leveraging advanced analytics and negotiating contracts to secure the business.

Responsibilities:

Establishes strategy for driving profitable new customer growth, with guidance from Vice President of Field Sales & Regional Vice Presidents of Sales.

  • Works closely with FreshPoint Market Vice President of Sales to define long-term strategic new business development goals

  • Supports region leadership and New Business Developers on strategic proposals

  • Aligns with Region teams on profitability and service model

  • Leverages advanced analytics to prioritize business opportunities within respective regions and ensures that New Business Developer resources are assigned to the right opportunities

  • Maintains team focus on key priorities for the quarter and year

  • Leads monthly New Business Development meetings and ensures action items assigned are executed

Coaching New Business Developers

  • Responsible for Performance Management of New Business Developers’ performance and routines

  • Design and implement formal training programs for New Business Developers with major focus on targeted segment opportunities

  • Establish ongoing training and development of New Business Developers through participation in General Sales Meetings, promotions, and Food Shows and customer events

Prospecting Visits

  • Provide support on field prospecting visits as needed

  • Evaluate and coach New Business Developers in conjunction with Regional Leadership Team

Coordinate and Execute Prospect visits and tours of FreshPoint facilities

  • Ensure allocated resources are available to meet with prospects

  • Leverage the entire portfolio of products such as value add, grab & go, etc.

Education Required:

  • BS or BA Degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, Animal Science or related studies

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years relevant Sales experience

  • Experience working within a retail, wholesale or distribution environment

  • CRM/ Salesforce & Excel Expertise

Experience Preferred:

  • Purchasing/Merchandising experience, preferred

  • 5+ years of foodservice sales experience, preferred

Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of growing sales directly or thought others.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.

  • Excellent negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to speak effectively in front of large groups. 

  • Problem resolution expertise. 

  • Ability to adapt to different markets and philosophies. 

  • Strong attention to detail and follow up.
