Job Description

Sales Development Representative (SDR)

📍 Remote (US-based) | 🧬 Life Sciences | 🎯 Lead Generation | ✈️ Occasional Travel

Empowering the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere.

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is revolutionizing DNA and RNA sequencing with a real-time, scalable technology that can read any length of native fragment—from portable to population-scale platforms. With a global footprint and headquarters at the Oxford Science Park (UK), our team is driven by innovation across nanopore science, molecular biology, informatics, engineering, and commercialisation.

We are seeking a proactive, results-driven Sales Development Representative (SDR) to drive lead generation and customer engagement across the academic, biotech, biopharma, research medical institutions, and government sectors. If you're passionate about genomics, thrive in fast-paced environments, and love turning potential into partnership, we’d love to meet you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Generate new sales opportunities through inbound management and outbound outreach (calls, emails, SFDC, and sales enablement tools).
  • Proactively develop strategies to identify and engage potential customers.
  • Act as the frontline voice for Oxford Nanopore, reporting key market feedback and lead quality to internal teams.
  • Schedule meetings and calls between prospects and Inside Sales Account Managers (ISAMs) and/or Account Executives (AEs).
  • Collaborate closely with ISAMs, AEs, and Marketing to meet company goals and optimize lead flow.
  • Independently execute lead generation strategies, using research techniques to find high-value prospects.
  • Track, report, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives that drive revenue growth.
  • Support commercial teams in shortening the sales cycle and improving customer engagement.
  • Provide actionable market feedback on industry trends and competitive activities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for leads, contacts, and accounts.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working in teams and ideally in sales or marketing roles.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and data analysis platforms.
  • Knowledge of the life science and genomics markets.
  • Experience using sales tools like Salesforce, Scileads, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill large data sets into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to identify ideal customer profiles, uncover customer needs, and clearly demonstrate solution fit.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working with remote teams and in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Sales support or engagement experience with CRM tools.
  • Experience delivering training, creating sales playbooks, and collaborating with data analysts for sales optimization.
  • Understanding of DNA sequencing technologies and their applications.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this role is between $66,000 and $88,000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate.

Certain roles within Oxford Nanopore Technologies are eligible for an annual bonus and stock awards, allocated based on individual performance.

Employees based in the US have the option to choose healthcare benefits, participate in the company 401(k) plan with company match, and we also offer short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, commuter benefits, and more.

We base our hiring decisions on individual qualifications, skills, and merit, ensuring equal opportunity for all applicants.
