■ CO-OP STUDENT, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION (EDI) OFFICE
CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA
Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are vital to healthcare. Members and patients experience racism and inequities which can significantly affect physicians, threaten patient safety, and create medico-legal risk. The EDI Office is committed to identifying systemic barriers, equity gaps and institutional processes and practices and to addressing these through the EDI Strategy implementation and EDI assessment and measurement.
The EDI Office supports the implementation of CMPA’s EDI strategy as a critical element of the Association’s new strategic plan. The EDI Office fosters and supports an environment of equity and inclusion across teams at the CMPA, provides strategic-level guidance and advice, and helps to increase capacity for EDI initiatives and programs. The EDI Office works cross-departmentally to support organizational understanding, action and engagement for EDI and antiracism, and it works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and partners for the organization to realize its EDI goals. The EDI Office aims to nurture a workplace culture that embodies a strong sense of equity and belonging, and build processes, programs, and practices through an equity lens, and supports the work of the whole organization including its employees, the Council, and the CMPA members.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, EDI, the EDI Office Student will complete environmental scans and literature reviews, catalogue digital media (webinars, podcasts, resources), and support the team in identifying promising practices and trends in the EDI, anti-racism and reconciliation efforts, with some focus in the healthcare landscape. The incumbent will work closely with the EDI Office team members on research, EDI learning, resource development on key topics in the field of EDI and anti-racism.
POSITION ACTIVITIES
- Conduct research, literature reviews, and environmental scanning on key topics related to EDI, anti-racism and reconciliation
- Synthesize complex research findings into topic areas to inform promising practices in EDI
- Write concise and informative briefs on key topics
- Collaborate with teammates to transform knowledge to Senior Leadership
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Enrolled in an academic post-secondary program in a relevant field ex. Health Sciences, Health Policy, Human Rights and Social Justice, Humanities, Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences
- Knowledge of EDI, anti-racism and/or reconciliation, combined with insights learned from lived experiences of inequities, and other forms of discrimination
- Strong research background and skills
- Experience conducting environmental scans and/or literature reviews
- Experience working with Office 365 and related software
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to synthesize complex information
- Organizational skills with attention to quality, detail, and accuracy
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong collaborative skills in a teamwork setting
- Working knowledge of French is an asset
POSTING DETAILS
- Job type: This is a Temporary, Full-Time position from September-December 2025
- Salary range: Between $19.75-$25.50 per hour based on level of education and previous relevant work experience
- Location: Fully Remote Job, working from a home-based office anywhere in the provinces of Ontario and Québec. If you prefer, you can choose to work out of CMPA’s office in Ottawa, ON near the beautiful Dow’s Lake.
- Students are defined as individuals who are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution during the year that they are employed. To be considered for a position, candidates must be enrolled in an academic program with a co-op term from September to December 2025.
