Benefits Specialist

North - Remote

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for administering the day-to-day functions of group health and welfare, well-being, and retirement programs of North.

In addition, this role will be the primary support for all North team member questions and issues in those areas, and responsible for timely research and resolution to all inquiries.


 

What you'll do:

  • Administer and maintain compliance for North’s Benefit Programs (Health and Welfare, Leave and Accommodation Administration, Well-Being Program, 401(k), Worker’s Compensation, Tuition Reimbursement, etc.).
  • Providing white glove service to team member inquiries while maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring equitable and courteous resolution.
  • Creates employee communications and presentations related to benefit and well-being programs..
  • Maintain plan documents and summary plan descriptions to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates and legislation (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, IRS and DOL) and ensure all legally required plan notices are distributed timely and accurately.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legislation (including, but not limited to: ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and ADA) by attending webinars, seminars, and staying current with applicable legislation.
  • Oversee the processing of carrier billings and the preparation of payment for
  • administrative fees including bill reconciliation and tracking.
  • Monitor benefit plan trends and assist with investigation and implementation of new programs, improvements to existing programs, and monitor administrative costs.
  • 401(k) plan administration – manage plans eligibility, enrollment, plan payments, and distribution requests, and support annual audits and compliance testing.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum one (1) year’s experience in employee benefits and/or leave of absence administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present information in front of large groups and with remote participants.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and capable of self-direction. Strong computer skills with the ability to utilize spreadsheets, word processing and presentation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs and benefit contract language.

Salary Range: $33,000 - $67,000

Pay within this range varies by work location and on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We look forward to discussing your salary expectations and our full total rewards offerings throughout the interview process.

Travel Required: Up to 10%
