GRID Alternatives’ Tribal Program has worked since 2010 with Indigenous Nations across the United States to achieve their renewable energy goals. Using a community-centric approach, we partner with Tribes to identify, develop, finance and implement solar power projects that meet community needs, including education, hands-on training, and energy cost reductions for tribal members.
The Opportunity...
We are offering a position for a Workforce and Training Manager, Tribal to support the Tribal Program’s deployment of workforce development initiatives in Tribal communities throughout the United States. Through GRID Alternatives Tribal Program we are able to facilitate a variety of experiential learning opportunities. These programs are in support of Tribal members gaining the necessary skills and knowledge to be introduced to different concept areas of Tribal Renewable Energy.
The approach to GRID’s Tribal workforce development is to create economic and capacity impact by engaging communities in a way that promotes generational growth within renewable energy as an industry and as a pillar of advocacy for tribal sovereignty.
By providing pathways to careers in tribal renewable energy, we empower individuals to contribute to their communities' energy independence and sustainability. Graduates of our programs have the potential to secure employment in the growing field of renewable energy, leading to increased income, career advancement, and economic self-sufficiency.
The Workforce and Training Manager will play a key role in reaching these goals by leading efforts in deploying GRID’s Installation Basics Training curriculum as well as providing thought-leadership for incorporating Tribal specific context and training.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and manage GRID Tribal programming curriculum, tailored to Tribal Programs’ experiential learning, construction, and Tribal College and University (TCU) programs.
- Facilitate a learning environment for professors and universities to access and share renewable energy content tailored to Tribal contexts.
- Partner with content experts to design training materials and deliver workshops on Tribal renewable energy initiatives.
- Serve as the point of contact for all online learning management system (LMS) needs, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of online learning experiences, including credentialing programs and shareable content repositories.
- Monitor and analyze participation and performance data to continually improve online learning offerings.
- Facilitate conversations and relationships with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment in curriculum development efforts.
- Collaborate with HQ Workforce Development to align Tribal curriculum with national workforce development initiatives and compliance requirements.
- Develop metrics and tools for evaluating curriculum effectiveness and learner outcomes.
What You Need To Bring To This Role...
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Vocational Education, or a related field.
- Experience developing educational programs for Tribal communities and/or TCUs.
- Familiarity with workforce development initiatives, accreditation processes, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency with online learning platforms and instructional design tools.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging with Tribal leaders, educators, and industry partners.
It would be great if you also had...
- Expertise in managing online and hybrid learning environments, including credentialing programs.
- Experience collaborating with HQ Workforce Development and ensuring curriculum alignment with workforce goals.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables.
- Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary pay commensurate with experience within the pay band
($80k- $90k annually), plus the benefits listed below. This role is supported by Federal Grants.
