The PBM Technician provides technical support to licensed pharmacists within OHSU Pharmacy Benefit
Management Services. Support includes but is not limited to troubleshooting pharmacy claims, responding to
non-clinical inquiries, providing call center support, implementing formulary changes, and providing
utilization management support.
Function/Duties of Position
Communicate with members and health care professionals regarding member eligibility, benefit design, formularies, and coverage requests.
Navigate multiple platforms to research pharmacy claim inquiries, provide utilization management support, implement formulary changes, and test benefit updates.
Assist PBM pharmacists with non-clinical activities including but not limited to collecting claims data, drug pricing, and reporting.
Support PBM pharmacists with pipeline tracking and P&T preparation by gathering basic drug information, tracking policy updates, and organizing documents.
Perform other responsibilities of a PBM technician as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, active State of Oregon Pharmacy Technician License AND
1 year of pharmacy work experience, or equivalent additional education; AND
Certification from the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board OR
National Healthcareer Association. Certification must be maintained.
Must possess computer keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word
Two or more years of previous health plan or PBM experience
Two or more years of call center experience
One or more years of retail or specialty pharmacy experience
Knowledge of pharmacy claims processing
Knowledge of pharmacy/medical terminology
Knowledge of drug names

Shift: Days, Monday through Friday Hours: 8am-5pm
