Location: New York State (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-Time, 6-Month Contract
Hourly Rate: $45/hour

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a highly detail-oriented Registered Nurse to serve as a Clinical Editor/Proofer for a remote role supporting New York State Dispute Resolution and External Review operations. This role requires a blend of clinical knowledge and strong editorial skills to ensure accurate, compliant, and error-free final documents. You'll also play a role in performance improvement through error tracking and training support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review pre-final dispute determinations for accuracy and consistency
  • Edit content for grammar, structure, factual accuracy, and clinical validity
  • Validate mathematical data and ensure clarity in final documents
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to improve content quality
  • Track and analyze recurring errors to identify training opportunities
  • Participate in staff huddles and provide editorial technical assistance
  • Perform additional editing-related tasks as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or graduate of an accredited RN training program
  • Post-graduate studies or demonstrated proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading

Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse license in New York State (Required)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in acute care (medicine, surgery, or special care units preferred)
  • 1–3 years of utilization review in an acute care setting
  • Demonstrated writing/editing ability (writing sample or published work required)

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of EMRs, clinical coding, and documentation
  • Advanced editing skills including grammar, formatting, and mathematical validation

Soft Skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Analytical and collaborative mindset
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on editorial standards
