Crimson Education is a global education company with a mission to help students unlock their potential and access the world’s top academic and career opportunities. Operating in 30+ countries, we offer services across college admissions, online high school education, test prep, talent mobility, and education technology.

We’ve recently closed our Series D capital raise at a US$600 million valuation, marking an exciting phase of global growth and innovation. This is a rare opportunity to join a globally dispersed legal team that punches well above its size — supporting multiple fast-moving business units across borders. You’ll work across a wide range of legal areas and have direct exposure to executive leadership, investors, and external counsel around the world.

About the Role

We’re looking for a mid-level lawyer (3–5 PQE) trained in a common law jurisdiction (NZ, AU, UK, Canada, or the US) who is currently based in Thailand, Indonesia, India, or South Africa.

You will work directly with the Director, Legal & Compliance, supporting high-impact legal matters spanning commercial contracts, new ventures, M&A, and international structuring — while enjoying the flexibility of remote work, a global footprint, and an empowered, collaborative culture.

What are the main responsibilities for this role?

  • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Advising business teams on legal and commercial risk in connection with new initiatives, service launches, marketing campaigns, and cross-border projects
  • Assisting with M&A transactions, due diligence, and investment documentation
  • Advising on intellectual property, licensing, and data protection
  • Liaising with external counsel on disputes, regulatory issues, and transactions
  • Drafting and reviewing internal policies
  • Supporting global functions including People Team, Finance, and Business Development on contract-related legal matters
  • Contributing to the maintenance of legal templates, playbooks, and internal guidance materials, with a focus on practical enablement of the business
  • Collaborating with international colleagues across time zones, cultures, and business lines

What skills and experience are required?

  • Qualified to practise law in NZ, AU, UK, Canada, or the US
  • 3–5 years’ post-admission experience in commercial or corporate law (in-house or private practice)
  • Strong contract drafting and issue-spotting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Adaptable, responsive, and comfortable working remotely in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working independently while collaborating with global teammates
  • Based in Thailand, Indonesia, India, or South Africa (and with legal right to work there)
  • Bonus: Experience in education, tech, startup or multi-jurisdictional environments

Why work for Crimson?

  • Fully remote role – work from anywhere in your home country
  • Flexible hours – as long as you're available during key NZST overlap
  • Truly international exposure – support projects across the US, UK, APAC, and EMEA
  • Work closely with senior leadership and gain broad commercial experience
  • Small but strategic legal team with high visibility and autonomy
  • Opportunity to make a genuine impact at a mission-driven, fast-scaling global company
  • Limitless development and exposure - our internal promotions/role changes made up 33% of all recruitment last year
  • $1000 individual training budget per year, we love to ‘Level Up’ (it’s one of our core values)!
